Safety Limitations and External Help

What QuillSquare’s automated content gate does, what it cannot do and where users must seek real-world help themselves.

Who this is for: Adults and learners using QuillSquare.

Version 1.0Effective 27 August 2026Last reviewed 27 August 2026

QuillSquare is not a safeguarding or emergency service

QuillSquare does not monitor submissions for real-world danger and does not provide counselling, emergency response, staffed safeguarding review or a way to contact emergency services through the product.

A parent, guardian, tutor or education setting remains responsible for ordinary supervision, safeguarding practice and deciding how to respond to anything a learner writes or says. QuillSquare feedback is not a risk assessment, diagnosis or substitute for trained professional judgement.

What the automated gate does

User-controlled text and files are checked by an automated provider before they proceed through the relevant workflow. Content flagged by that provider is rejected and does not continue to AI evaluation or the intended cross-user view.

The gate is imperfect. It may reject harmless fictional or educational writing, and it may fail to recognise concerning, identifying or unsafe material. A rejection means only that the automated check did not allow the content to proceed. It is not a finding that abuse, self-harm, exploitation, criminality or danger has occurred.

What does not happen after a moderation decision

QuillSquare will follow a specific mandatory reporting or disclosure duty if verified facts and applicable law require it. That narrow legal response is not a general monitoring or referral service.

  • No routine human reads or reviews every accepted or rejected submission.
  • No safeguarding case or alert is created for the company founder.
  • QuillSquare does not automatically tell a parent, tutor, school or education setting.
  • QuillSquare does not call 999, Childline, the NSPCC, police, social services or another outside organisation for the user.
  • QuillSquare does not promise confidentiality where disclosure is specifically required by law, but it does not make voluntary referrals from ordinary moderation output.

Get help yourself when someone may be unsafe

  • If someone is in immediate danger in the UK, call 999 yourself.
  • A child or young person can contact Childline on 0800 1111 or use its website.
  • An adult worried about a child can contact the NSPCC helpline or the relevant local safeguarding service.
  • A learner should tell a trusted adult, such as a parent, guardian, tutor or responsible person at their education setting.

If safe writing is rejected

Try removing unnecessary personal information and check that the task is suitable for an educational writing service. If you believe safe content was rejected incorrectly, email help@quillsquare.app with the safe on-screen reference and a short description of the product problem. Do not paste the writing, attach the rejected file or send learner details.

Product help does not guarantee a human review of the content or a decision that it is safe. QuillSquare may ask the user to rephrase or use a different appropriate task rather than accepting the material.

Reporting content shown through QuillSquare

If content actually shown through QuillSquare appears illegal or harmful to a child, email help@quillsquare.app and provide only the safe reference shown on the page and the type of concern. Do not copy the writing or private result link into the email. This route concerns content on the service; it is not monitored as an emergency or counselling route.

QuillSquare may restrict access or preserve the minimum necessary evidence while it meets a legal obligation. It will not disclose unrelated learner or customer information merely because a report is made.
