1. Company and contract
QuillSquare is operated by QuillSquare Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under number 17091181. Registered office: QuillSquare Ltd, 9 Elm Walk, London, United Kingdom, SW20 9ED. QuillSquare Ltd is the contracting party; no director, founder or worker gives a personal guarantee.
You must be at least 18 and have authority to enter this contract. A registered credit-pack contract forms when QuillSquare verifies successful Stripe payment and grants the credits. A guest evaluation contract forms when QuillSquare verifies Stripe authorisation and accepts the evaluation for processing. A durable confirmation records the contract, but email delay does not undo a contract already formed.
If you buy mainly for personal or family purposes, you are treated as a consumer. If you buy mainly for an independent tutoring business, the business provisions apply. A role label alone does not remove consumer rights where you are legally acting as a consumer.
2. The service
QuillSquare provides AI-assisted analysis of English writing and a structured digital feedback report. It initially supports common writing contexts used in 10+, 11+ and 13+ entrance preparation, with an upcoming-September 11+ default where no different supported context is supplied. Those assessments do not follow one prescribed English course, and the same analysis may be used for general English-writing improvement.
QuillSquare is not an exam board or official marker. It does not guarantee correctness, a particular score, improvement, admission, exam success, authorship, originality or alignment with a particular school or examiner. The report is not a diagnosis, safeguarding assessment, professional advice or substitute for responsible adult judgement.
The responsible parent, tutor or educator must review the feedback before using it with a learner. You must not use QuillSquare output as the sole basis for a legal, disciplinary, admissions, health, SEND or similarly significant decision.
3. UK focus and technical access elsewhere
QuillSquare Ltd is based in the United Kingdom. The launch is designed and marketed primarily for England-oriented entrance preparation and English-writing improvement. Prices and payments are in pounds sterling. QuillSquare does not use residence questions, billing-country restrictions or IP/device geolocation to decide who may buy, so Stripe Checkout may accept supported purchasers using the service from other countries.
Technical access or purchase does not mean that QuillSquare has adapted the service to every country’s curriculum, tax, consumer, privacy or child-law requirements, or that local support is offered there. You are responsible for deciding whether the service is suitable for your educational purpose, subject to mandatory rights that law does not allow these Terms to exclude.
4. Adult accounts, learner credentials and guest links
A registered parent or tutor account is for one adult. Keep its Google/Firebase sign-in private and do not share it with another parent, assistant, tutor or colleague. You may properly share an appropriate report without sharing the adult account.
An adult may create a pseudonymous learner login and password for the learner/parent relationship. The adult controls assignment access, password reset and, for tutor profiles, release of a report. A learner credential has no purchasing authority. It is pseudonymous, not anonymous, and must not be posted publicly or shared beyond the intended relationship.
A guest-result URL is a private bearer link. Anyone who receives it may be able to open the report until it expires or is revoked. Share it only with the relevant learner, parent/guardian or tutor. Tell help@quillsquare.app promptly if an account, learner credential or guest link may have been exposed.
5. Parent and tutor responsibility
The adult decides whether a learner profile represents a real person, selects the task and context and is responsible for having authority to submit the work. QuillSquare does not ask for or verify a child’s legal identity, school, exact date of birth or relationship to the adult.
A tutor must be authorised by the learner’s parent, guardian or responsible education setting to use QuillSquare for that learner and upload the work. The tutor must make QuillSquare’s child privacy information available to the learner and responsible adult, keep their own tutoring records confidential and review feedback before use.
Where a non-None SEND condition is selected, a parent/guardian must make the informed choice or the tutor must have the parent/guardian’s explicit agreement. Do not upload diagnostic letters, medical history or other sensitive detail. The feature adapts feedback but does not diagnose or validate a condition.
6. Customer Content, ownership and licence
“Customer Content” means task sheets, prompts, instructions, writing, images, PDFs, profile context and other material a user supplies. You keep any rights you have in Customer Content and represent that you have lawful authority to provide it for this use. QuillSquare cannot verify authorship, ownership, whether a profile represents a real child, or whether a task page may lawfully be copied.
You give QuillSquare a limited right to host, copy, convert, extract text from, moderate, send to the providers described in the Privacy Notice, analyse and display Customer Content only as needed to provide, secure and administer the service and follow the published retention and rights processes.
Customer Content is not placed in a public or cross-customer library. It may be encountered within the authorised adult/learner relationship and processed by service providers. QuillSquare does not routinely perform copyright clearance or human review. On a sufficiently specific credible notice, or where law or service protection requires it, QuillSquare may restrict or remove the relevant material without disclosing unrelated customer information.
7. QuillSquare material and permitted report use
QuillSquare and its licensors retain their rights, to the extent owned or licensed, in the QuillSquare name and branding, software, original prompt and rubric wording, contextual evaluation and selection rules, scoring and progression framework, report schemas, templates, layout, documentation and reusable service material.
QuillSquare does not claim ownership of the learner’s writing or of the general idea of giving contextual suggestions, rephrasing examples or next-step guidance. Rights in particular AI-generated wording exist only to the extent the law and provider terms allow.
The adult may save, print and share a report privately with the relevant learner, parent/guardian, tutor or responsible education setting for educational use. You must not copy or reverse engineer protected platform material to build or offer a competing evaluation service, remove branding in a misleading way, sell reports as official marks or publish another learner’s report without authority. Nothing prevents a learner applying an educational suggestion or using a statutory copyright exception.
8. Acceptable use
Automated moderation can reject safe material or miss concerning content. QuillSquare does not promise proactive detection, human review, parent/tutor alerts or contact with emergency or safeguarding services.
- Use QuillSquare only for lawful educational writing feedback and account administration.
- Do not upload content you lack authority to use, malware, active documents, unlawful content, unnecessary personal data, full medical records or content intended to attack, bypass or manipulate the service or its AI providers.
- Do not use QuillSquare to complete a live, supervised or controlled assessment where assistance is prohibited, impersonate a learner or submit AI/third-party wording as the learner’s own contrary to applicable rules.
- Do not probe credentials, share tokens publicly, scrape reports, overload endpoints, evade limits, interfere with security, or access another account or learner relationship.
- Do not use feedback to shame, manipulate, unlawfully discriminate against or make an unreviewed significant decision about a learner.
9. Uploads and OCR confirmation
The upload screen shows current permitted file types, file count, individual and combined size limits and flattened-page/output limit. At the present release baseline, an ordered upload accepts 1–10 JPEG, PNG or PDF sources, each no larger than 10 MB, no larger than 50 MB combined, and produces no more than 10 flattened pages or a 50 MB canonical PDF. Reasonable technical limits may change for security, provider, reliability or capacity reasons.
The responsible user must check that OCR text faithfully reflects the handwriting, including original spelling, grammar, vocabulary and punctuation, and correct only recognition errors before final submission. QuillSquare does not independently certify that OCR is accurate. Remove unnecessary names, school details, addresses and private metadata where possible.
10. Prices, payments and credits
The total price is shown in GBP before Stripe handoff. No VAT is charged while QuillSquare Ltd is not VAT registered. Stripe processes payment and fraud controls; QuillSquare does not receive full card details.
Each purchased registered credit entitles the account to one evaluation and expires 365 days after its server-recorded grant. Credits are account-bound, non-transferable and have no cash value except an eligible refund. Free promotional or goodwill credits are used before purchased credits; within a source, the oldest eligible expiry is used first. The server ledger, not browser display, is authoritative.
Only a successful evaluation consumes a registered credit. Failure releases the same reserved credit to its originating lot with its original expiry. Expiry of an unused credit does not delete or alter an earlier completed report.
11. Guest evaluation payment and delivery
Stripe may place a temporary authorisation. QuillSquare captures it only after the evaluation succeeds and otherwise cancels or releases it. The bank controls when pending or refunded amounts appear.
The guest confirmation provides a private result link, a safe reference and an exact report-availability deadline 24 hours after acceptance. Link availability—not delivery of a courtesy result-ready email—determines whether the report was supplied by that deadline. The agreed 24-hour remedy is described on the Cancellations, Refunds and Credits page.
Check the email entered in Stripe carefully. QuillSquare sends confirmation and any resend only to that exact address and cannot redirect a private result link to a corrected address. Non-receipt caused solely by the purchaser’s typing error does not itself qualify for a refund, without limiting rights where QuillSquare failed to supply the service or was otherwise at fault.
12. Cancellation, refunds and statutory remedies
An eligible consumer credit-pack purchase may be cancelled by a clear email to refunds@quillsquare.app sent within 14 days beginning the day after purchase. If immediate performance was expressly requested and successful evaluations were supplied, only the lawfully chargeable proportion may be retained. Guest failures, the 24-hour guest remedy, defective reports, duplicate charges, account closure and service closure follow the linked policy.
QuillSquare provides the service with reasonable care and skill and digital content of satisfactory quality, fit for a made-known purpose and as described, subject to the legally relevant circumstances. AI limitations do not excuse a blank, corrupt, unrelated, substantially incomplete or materially misdescribed report. Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other mandatory rights are not excluded.
13. Availability and changes
QuillSquare depends on internet, cloud, payment, email and AI providers and does not promise uninterrupted availability or a fixed generation time. It may perform maintenance, correct faults or change providers, models, report design, technical limits and supporting features. Earlier completed reports remain point-in-time records and are not rewritten by ordinary profile or service changes.
Prices change only for future purchases. An existing purchased credit keeps its count, one-evaluation entitlement and stated expiry. If a service change materially reduces practical use of existing purchased credits, QuillSquare will, where practicable, give reasonable notice and provide a fair opportunity to use them or refund affected unused purchased value proportionately.
These Terms may be updated prospectively. QuillSquare will give clear notice of a materially adverse change and request fresh acceptance where required. A change does not remove accrued or non-excludable rights.
14. Restriction, closure and restoration
QuillSquare may temporarily restrict access where reasonably necessary for account or service security, suspected fraud or unlawful use, serious misuse, legal or provider requirements, or user protection. Urgent action may be immediate. If a non-urgent issue can reasonably be corrected, QuillSquare will normally explain it and give the adult a reasonable opportunity to put it right before permanent closure.
An account may be permanently ended for serious or repeated breach, fraud, legal necessity or closure of the service. QuillSquare will provide a reason and outcome where lawful and safe. Unused purchased value is ordinarily refunded proportionately, except for fraud, an existing dispute or chargeback, or a specifically established direct loss law permits QuillSquare to retain. Used, free or promotional credits have no refundable value.
15. Responsibility and liability
For consumers, QuillSquare is responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of its breach of these Terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. It is not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, was caused by inaccurate or unauthorised Customer Content, resulted from use contrary to clear limitations, or is a business loss arising from a consumer purchase. Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of statutory rights, data-protection responsibility, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
For a customer contracting mainly for business, neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss or loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or anticipated savings. Subject to liabilities that cannot lawfully be limited, QuillSquare’s aggregate liability arising from the service in any 12-month period is limited to the amount that business customer paid QuillSquare in that period. This business limit does not apply where it would be unreasonable or unlawful.
The customer remains responsible for lawful authority, task choice, review and educational use. That allocation does not transfer QuillSquare’s own duties for service conformity, security, privacy, providers or mandatory reporting.
16. Complaints, law and courts
For product or account complaints, contact help@quillsquare.app. For cancellation, charge or refund matters, contact refunds@quillsquare.app. For privacy rights, contact privacy@quillsquare.app. Include a safe reference but do not email learner writing, a report, password, full card details or guest-result link.
QuillSquare does not currently subscribe to a private alternative dispute-resolution scheme. This does not affect mediation or another process required by law or a court.
These Terms and the contract are governed by English law. If you are a consumer, this does not remove mandatory protections of the law where you live, and you may bring proceedings in any court available under applicable law, including the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live. If you contract mainly for a tutoring business, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
